Over the holiday I decided to upgrade my home server which runs all my websites and development. I spent way too much money, but it was a much needed upgrade. I am hoping this helps with the basemap generation speed, but I still need to purchase more memory before I can really get into that project.
My upgrade included
AMD Ryzen Threadripper 2950X
128GB ECC DDR4 Memory
AsRock Rack X399D8A-2T Motherboard
4x 16TB Seagate Harddrives
This is about $2600 worth of parts, which is also on top of the NVMe disks I bought recently... So if anyone wonders where the advertising money and donations go... this is a few years worth at least
Attached some pics if anyone wants to drool with me. also feel free to donate toward the 128GB memory increase (its going to cost me another $600, uhg)

Re: New Server / Sorry for the downtime!
We sure are putting this new server to the test today. I am working a open map tiles export from postgres with 16 cores, plus on another vm it looks like jon has been importing a buch of VS1 files too.
Seems to be handling it all great so far, I'm really happy with it. I still need some more memory, but it doesn't even look possible to get it right now (backordered everywhere). I had to keep my old server running so I could have room for my main projects on this new server.

I'm finally putting this threadripper to good use. I am maxing it out with with OpenMapTIles generation now that I have optimized it a bit better
