Ummm.. the "new version available" splash is a little annoying... could it be rigged with the options "Never update / remind later / update now" buttons?
Likewise with old DB detected splash? Give the options to diable the splash just "yes/no"

To disable the update prompt
Settings --> Vistumbler Settings -> Uncheck "Automatically Check For Updates"

Remind later would basically be answering no to the current prompt, update now would be yes. With automatically update turned off you can still do a manual update (Help --> Check for updates)

I can probably add in some MDB recovery options, like "never recover", but right now they do not exist
