I got the Intel WiFi Link 5300 in my netbook but...

Post by Raymond Day »

I open my netbook and added a 3RD antenna in the screen and replace the card with a Intel WiFi Link 5300 that does 802.11a/b/g/n or WiMAX.

Windows XP installed the driver auto. I then download and install Vistumbler. When I run it it don't show the MAC address or what type of wireless it is like 802.11a or what ever.

All else seems good. I can only guess this is because it's running on Windows XP home and not Windows 7 like how I ran it with that same wireless card before.

Any one know how to have it scann and show the Mac Address and Radio type?

O I just looked on here more and looks like with XP can't do it :(

Vistumbler doesn't really support windows xp because it relies on a netsh command that only exists on Vista or Later. When you use XP it forces Vistumbler into Native Wifi mode, which is very limited (No Mac, Channel, Radio Type, BTX, OTX). Vistumbler also does not scan well in native wifi mode in xp.
