Problem to on Vista 64

Post by choke »

Hi
Have used Netstumbler on xp before but now after upgrading to Vista 64 I have tried to find a new software.
Need to be able to scan for acess points and wireless.
I have installed yoru software - but it can´t find any information (I am sitting a location with a lot of wifi).
Have tried to disconnect the access point and then scan but still I don´t get any information. I do not need the GPS feture only be able to view the access points and networks.

Thanks for your support

What language is your version of Vista. I use Vistumbler on 64 bit vista so i know it works, but it may need the language changed or a language pack created.

Hi,

Thanks for the answer Andrew.
My language for Vista 64 is Swedish. I have tried to change Vistumblers language to both Swdish and English - but I cant detect any acess points.

Best regards

netcomm is not compatible with 64 bit windows. it only works with 32bit.

I'v tried to get it working but it doesn't.

This is the origional reason I added CommMG to Vistumbler. I switch to Vista x64 and wanted GPS

If you could do the following command at the command prompt "netsh wlan show networks mode=bssid > C:\netsh.txt" and post C:\netsh.txt on the forum i can look to see what the problem is.

If c:\netsh.txt is empty, then that is your problem

Andrew,
It looks like it is my Swedish version of vista. I cant run the command "mode=Bssid"
But I can run show all, it will give me a lot of information, but at the moment I only need the mac adress.
I do not know why the command don´t work, I have tried it on several computers with vista 64 and Swedish.

Try typing "netsh wlan show networks /?"

Mine gives an output like this
C:\Users\ACalcutt>netsh wlan show networks /?

Usage: show networks [[interface=]<string>] [[mode=]ssid/bssid]

Parameters:

Tag Value
interface - Name of the interface which has this profile configured.
mode - Get detailed bssid information.

Remarks:

Shows the networks available to the system.
Parameter interface and bssid are both optional.

If interface name is given, only the networks on the given
interface will be listed. Otherwise, all networks visible to
the system will be listed.

If mode=bssid is given then the visible bssids for each ssid
will also be listed. Otherwise only ssids will be listed.

Examples:

show networks interface="Wireless Network Connection"
show networks mode=Bssid
show networks
If you look at the examples does it give you one similar to my "show networks mode=Bssid" ? If it does i can try to make this a changeable option.

The thing i find weird is we have other users with swedish versions of vista that don't seem to have any issues. I helped "reef" get exporting to KML working in the swedish language last week (http://forum.techidiots.net/forum/viewt ... p?f=8&t=48)
