New To Wi-Fi World

Post by qdma3 »

Good Day,
I was wondering if there is anything available along the lines of Wi Fi for Dummies. I have just downloaded Vistumbler and would welcome an over view of how to use it. I'm learning as I go but was hoping there was a good tutorial somewhere. I am familiar with the glossary. Any beginners help would be appreciated. By the way I plan on using this to find a signal at our rural camp in NY State. Plan on building an antenna to see if anything is in area to get a signal from.

Hi qdma3,

Off the top of my head I can't think of any "Wifi for Dummies" tutorials that would help, but feel free to ask any questions you may have here. If you haven't already I would look at these sections of the Vistumbler forum
viewforum.php?f=36 (DIY Hardware)
viewforum.php?f=50 (Tutorials)
viewforum.php?f=30 (Links)

Are you just trying to find signal in a remote location or are you wardriving/mapping like we do with our wireless database?
