Anybody out there using this > ALFA AWUS036EH 300mw or its brother ALFA AWUS036H 500mw < outside of me. ?
Ifso i would like to here from you.
How you are using it or them.

i hope this is not too late:

I use the ALFA AWUS036H 500mw, it works great and with a 9db-Antenna i scanned on the same Tour 30-40 % more of APs.

Freebe.. I don't know if you are following this thread anymore... But I am using a Wif-Link 500mW adapter.. it is identical to the Alphas and a few others.. just has different brand name on it.. they are all realtek units.

I desperatly LOVE the one I have and I am thinking of buying a few more.

Sorry i was on Holiday and only hat time for the Beach.
Yes i am still following the Threads, and i have read lots of threads from other forums about the (500mw)ers . Seems that the Alfa is of the same build as the others but it has a better recive that the rest.
But to be fair somware the thing commes to an end. You saw the Omni Stick that i am using it's 1.2mtr in size and has a 15db gain.
I estimate that i probaby have about 2w comming out. Mabe andrew can give us the data better.
Anyway i am most pleased with it. it works well. Have heard of a 800mw(er) but i dont have time to test it at pressent.
I have been reading up on a 50Km Stick but it works on a different type of system ( ubuntu ) or so what.
This is as far as i can tell a sort of linux system and you need to log into it as you go. Problem is it's a bit thin on the ground at pressent ( so i belive ) maybe someone can fill in on this.
But please don't forget this is a Vista Forum.

Only thing I know about Ubuntu is that it it IS a 'flavor' of Linux and is very popular.

Haven't had the chance to use the Alpha branded adapters yet.. if one comes my way, I would love to do a comparison. But from what I have seen from the www.wirelessforums.org threads, they seem to be identical. all realtek in the middle.

I still hacvent tried my stick on the warscout just yet... I need more Pvc!! LOL....

But i don't wan't to change my compleat system to Linux if it's no good against the system ( Omni Stick ) that i am using, the one in the pics.

Maybe someone has tryed it or knows some thing about it.

well heck, Freebe, why didn't you say it was an Ubiquity Bullet! From what I understand , those are awsome! IF I could afford one I would own one.

( awsome! ) yes it's that word that keeps me awake at nights.
It uses Linux and i don't have the time at the moment to start all over again.
Need someone to give me some Info on it and how good it realy is.
It would go straight onto my Stick. No problem there, if i had a spare Laptop i would try it. ( anybody with one )

From what I understand, these are excellent products for those who can afford them, Also do a search "google" Keyword Ubiquity Bullet. First result on list should be the Ubiquity website.

Just made a few tests on the new Alfa TUBE (G)
Its not up to the same % of Power as the Alfa 1000 and its a bit on the big side.

OK. Back to the Alfa 2000mW
I have now tested this unit and found it to be Extreamly sensitive
I run a test first using my Alfa 1000mW and found 31 Aps
Then i run a test using the new Alfa 2000mW and that found 51 Aps
This test i did using the Antenne that i have here on the forum ( Do ot yourself > DIY )

So now to the Down Side at present their are no Drivers with a controll panel like the rest on Alfa Webside ( Drivers )
And for them that might think they will use the BT3, 4, or 5 then they will also have to wait.
But if you just need it for your Boat or in your own Home it's really good.
