It sounds like your gps isn't getting a fix on your location. Does the gps get a location in other software?

If you are seeing the gprmc data then vistumbler is communicating properly with your gps. Usually I get a gps point with the first minute with my microsft gps, but I have seen days were i didn't get one for almost a half hour. Are you outside in an area with sky visible?
