SOPA / PIPA Black Out

Post by pferland »

In the interest of a free and open Internet, all of our domains will be going dark tomorrow. Some of you may know about SOPA (Stop Online Piracy Act) in the U.S. House of Representatives and PIPA (PROTECT IP Act) in the U.S. Senate. These two bills if passes would severely hurt user generated websites like WiFiDB and Vistumbler. Sites that rely on the people of the internet with free and open exchange of ideas and information. With no due process the Government will have the authority to remove DNS entries for any company or person that deems them unworthy, even if the content in question is 100% legal in all ways.

I did this with my domain as well. Looks like we got our point across. Although I am still getting emails from activists saying there are other similar bills in the works?
