Re: My next GPSr
Oh it works wonderfully! I was not so concerned about crushing as I was about the wiring getting severed by moving doors, windows and such. Since I armored the cable, I have had zero problems with cable damage. Added bonus, the added thickness and the Electrical tape wrapping makes the cable LOOK to...

Re: vistumbler scan
Talk about a low S/N ratio! Yeah Now I can see what ChessyMaster was saying.
This would also explain why I get 5-8 Ap's for the traffic control systems in the area. they have null ssid's and generate several AP's.. but oddly enough , only one antenna visible each.

Chessymaster.. two points. Both minor. First,Please post images as JPG or BMP as not everyone can see TIF on these boards. Second. As you may have seen.. Hiding your SSID does NOT make your WLAN 'invisible'. Will cause curiousity to what you would be wanting to try to hide.Use random Numbers and Let...

Re: Circular Signal Strength for KML
@ andrew.. I noticed those gaps in the signal strength as well. I just figgured that the detected signal was below a lower limit.
@ Freebe... Oh I just arbritarily selected colors in the GPS signal strength properties so that I could see better. No dependacy on strengths.

Yes Freebe, is a little complicated to explain but easier to show.
In google earth, right click on the AP signal strength then select properties then under second tab click on select color.

Here is a screen cap using both the test KMLs. Was watching Fresh Prince of Bel Aire this morning on TVland and mulling over the Circular Signal strength code. Yeay, I did the rnage thing manually.. I used my 'benchmark' AP Southern States Coop (ssid=SSCOOP) and since I know where that AP lives, I was able to use your Circle script. I will look over your posted KMLs.

Well, I don't guess it has to be live, but as an option to the GPS signal strength graph. Instead of the line graph style. Maybe tie radius to estimated signal strength? More intutitive I would think. I tried to post this reply a few hours ago, but I think your server been feeling ill again.

andrew, I happenned across an autoIT script that generates circles for google earth in the Techidiots site.
http://www.techidiots.net/autoit-script ... r.au3/view
Maybe you might be able to import it into Vistumbler.. radius = signal strength?

I would say one option would be VistaPE . VistaPE is based off vista files, sot it should have the needed netsh commands. It also looks like it could be booted from some type of flash (http://www.instructables.com/id/Create-a-Bootable-USB-drive-with-VistaPE/). I guess the trick would be finding som...

A sub-micro computer running vistumbler from flash memory with a 500mW radio , GPSr and antenna built in. Auto Dloads onto a removable Flash card or USB. Hmmm... I am sure there is a tech head out there somewhere that could try this. Hmmm... maybe a Windows CE based hardware?? No, not a laptop. Hmmm...
