Hi Phil - I downloaded this and unpacked the files into my mobile PC running Win7Pro 32 bit. I put the files in the program files directory under WDBUploader. I double-clicked on the .exe file and after a few seconds, it reported "this program has stopped working" with little information. ...

Jon, you ought to post mileage with your AP collection. craig Well, i did go out for a midday drive and in about 10 miles, I collected about 1300 APs. This was driving up and down streets in a 1/2 square mile typical single-family home suburban neighborhood. Houses here are on about 1/10 to 1/8 acr...

"Frequency" column.
Hi Craig - The "Channel" column is directly related to the frequency. For instance, channel 6 is 2437 MHz, channel 11 is the top of the 2.4 GHz band, and then channel 36 and up are all in the 5 GHz region. At least for me, the thing I look for most is whether the AP is in the 2.4 GHz band ...

Hi Craig - That's a good idea, as I'd like to have a better sense myself of APs per mile or kilometer. As Phil indicates, your computed position according to your GPS is a function of how that GPS works. US GPS is based upon a constellation of spacecraft (s/c) that orbit the earth in six different orbital planes. For a nice animated .gif of the constellation, see https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedi...

ahhh. Tricky. A lot of steps. However, let me see if I can find any interesting files from not too long ago. So far, it seems like all the stuff I did just before Vistumbler (2011-2014) has gone missing.
Graphs
You're welcome. To me, graph 1 and graph 2 just show the particular AP signal strength as either a bargraph or as a line. If there's some other difference or ability to configure them individually, I don't know. The way I use Vistumbler I never use the graphs, instead preferring the "minimal GU...

Hi there - Graph 1 and Graph 2 both are showing "signal strength" of the selected AP. In the case of your screengrab, it appears that the selected AP was out of range of (or at least extremely weak) the computer running Vistumbler for almost all the time shown, except for two samples (at l...

I would think your "5 second" rule would prevent the long lines. I can attest to the distance that I can get with my setup. The house roof AP is a UBNT Bullet 2HP with 28 dBm output directly into an 8 dBi antenna. Adds up to +36 dBm, the legal limit for part 15. The vehicle is the AmpWirel...
