Vistumbler has always mapped access points where they had the highest signal position. if you are only walking a line your only going to get the spot where the access point had the highest signal on that line. to get a better position of the AP you would have to walk closer to the AP. Does the computer go to sleep when it sits for a while? My guess it would loose connection to the gps if it did, but then think it was still connected.

Also, if i remember correctly... I though gps was more accurate when moving. when sitting still it tends to wander I thought.

I've made one change that should at least the multiple hash warning you got above. it might help a little. Basically made it so the same hash can be uploaded twice, at least until the import process gets to it and sees it is a duplicate

For the app can you try this. When it starts counting down the 30 seconds, close the countdown window so it cancels. Then manually go to File -> Exit. What error message are you getting. did you make sure to go to settings and set your gps com port information?

Edit: Also which version of vistumbler. there were some fixes when using a com port 10 or greater when using kernel32 mode (the default) in the latest release

One thing i would do is check the wiring to the fan. The labeling says its gnd, out, vcc but the plug wiring is gnd (black), vcc (red), out (yellow)
