Bizarre solution. I went into the vistumbler_settings.ini file in the Settings folder. TextColor=0x000000 (black) BackgroundColor=0xD7E4C2 (olive) ControlBackgroundColor=0xD7E4C2 (lighter olive) So the program was ignoring the two background color settings and making them black. No, it's never displayed properly. If there is a way to change the color scheme, I'd try that. But I haven't found a way.
There are references in the forum to deleting the .ini file and letting it regenerate itself. But that didn't work for me.

black text with black background - can't see anything
I've downloaded the current version multiple times, reinstalled it multiple times. Every time i run it, the background of all the buttons and text except the top menu bar is all black. So i can't see anything. Except if i guess where a button is and click there, in which case some text barely appear...
